Earlier this NBA postseason, Giannis Antetokounmpo kept it real when asked by reporter if he viewed the season as a failure. The Milwaukee Bucks were unable to get past the Miami Heat in the first round, and a team that was poised to contend for the Larry O’Brien saw their dreams crushed much earlier than expected. To many, the season could be viewed as a failure, but Giannis — clearly frustrated by the question — responded poignantly by pointing out the goal is the work harder and take steps upwards.

Off-the-court moments like that such as that post-game presser are just some of the examples why Giannis is so beloved in the city of Milwaukee. Both serious and light-hearted, Giannis stays true to himself, which finely describes the launch colorway of his next signature shoe — the Zoom Freak 5. Dubbed “Keep It A Buck”, this upcoming Fall 2023 release sees the signature Buck forest green paired with red, while the oversized Swoosh logo gets the alchemic touch in gold. Navy blue lace eyelets and white Swoosh branding on the medial, heel, and tongue complete the secondary accents.

The upper is comprised of a leather and a mesh-like fabric that boasts an intricate pattern. An equally ornate pattern appears at the toe of the leather portion via quilted stitching. A new arrangement of herringbone traction is utilized for the rubber outsole, while an over-sized reverse Swoosh, one of the trademarks of the Zoom Freak line, hides on the inner side of the sole coupling.

The Greek Freak is also contractually tied to Milwaukee through the 2024-2025 season, and it’s obvious that the Bucks organization and its fans would like to keep him a Buck for the rest of the career, and given the two-time MVPs loyalty and values, he might just keep himself a Buck for life.

Release dates are currently unknown, but the Freak 5 should drop this Fall season for $140 in adult down to TD sizing.
